Strange Light ~ (Paramaribo, Suriname)
Downtown Paramaribo
Traffic screams hell all over
Dazzling light and burning sun
Sweat-soaked faces moving on
Quiet late afternoon
People relax in wooden houses
Rocking chairs behind blinds
Flaming red sinks behind roof tops
Siksiyuru commences it’s night call
Dogs creep out from under floors
Strange light draws long shadows
This is when old spirits come out
Grandma used to say
