Candombe (Montevideo, Uraguay)
From every corner
Tambors are gathered
On a square in Montevideo
Tuned around a bonfire
They slowly stir up the blood
Of percussionists and dancers
Young and old, black and white
Through ancient drum rhythms
Rooted in African slavery
As the parade slow walks
Like hot lava in the streets
The Candombe soon erupts
Into a deep sense of unity
