De Amerikanen hebben
Hun “State of the Union”
Jaarrede van de president
Een bevestiging van
Nationale eenheid en trouw
Aan de grondwet
Net als “Prinsjesdag”
In Nederland
Wie de grootsheid niet kent
Van het moment, blijft weg
Laat verschillen prevaleren
Schoffeert niet alleen de man
Meer nog zichzelf en de natie
State of the Union (Translation)
The Americans have
Their “State of the Union”
Year address by the president
A confirmation
Of national unity and loyalty
To the constitution
Just like “Prinsjesdag”
In the Netherlands
He who does not grasp the greatness
Of the event, stays away
Allows differences to prevail
Not only with contempt for the man
But more so, for oneself and the nation
