is er zo iets
Als een zwart
Schoonheidsideaal
Anders dan het bleken
Van een donkere huid
Of het gladstrijken
Van kroeshaar?
Wie bepaalt
De moderegels
En wie dwingt ze af
Op straffe van
Onderlinge minachting
En afwijzing?
Ideal of Beauty (Translation)
Is there something
Like a black ideal
Of beauty
Other than bleaching
A dark skin
Or the straightening
Of frizzy hair?
Who determines
The rules of fashion
And who enforces them
Subject to
Mutual contempt
And rejection?
