Maroon Invasion
The Suriname Maroon population
Almost doubled in the last four years
So official counts show
They are moving into urban areas
Causing severe social problems
And excessive criminality
But let us not forget
That their ancestors had the guts
To fight slave masters
Fleeing deep into the jungle
Many lately driven away
From their tribal lands
By exploitation and civil war
Now it is time to move into power
And take what is rightfully theirs
