Religious Awakening
Half past five in the morning
Still dark and quiet in Antalya
I’m waking up to a male voice
Slowly chanting a sweet song
Even though I don’t understand
The words, it becomes clear
A religious call from the mosque
To my amazement I clearly feel
A strong, emotional response
Coming from deep within
Then the singing stops
Leaving an ocean of silence
And the resonance of prayer
