Sunrise Concert
I’m sitting on the porch
Just before dawn
Between tropical rains
Cold beer at hand
Being treated graciously
To a sunrise concert
Of birds, frogs and crickets
Greeted by passing cars
Taking on battered dirt roads
On their way to work
Just like I used to do
In a previous life
When I was still part of this country
