At the Death of my Father
A good man died today
He used to be my father
He went after my mom
Preceding him a year ago
After sixty years of marriage
He couldn’t do without her
We knew in expectation
But when death finally knocks
Nobody is prepared
Benumbed I sit and wonder
Who this soul really was
The one I knew from childhood
I used to call him Dad
