Je bent niet meer

Bij de politie

Haal dat sombere

Van je gezicht

Tover op z’n tijd

Uit je gekwelde ziel

Een grootse lach

Ook al was het

Uit meewarigheid

Wees de spiegel

Van het volksoptimisme

Laugh!

You are no longer

With the police

Get that gloomy look

Of your face

Conjure at times

From your tortured soul

A big smile

Eventhough be it

Out of compassion

Be the mirror

Of the people’s optimism
