Calypso ~ Music of the People
I believe, it was back then
Under Prime Minister Erick Williams
Of Trinidad & Tobago
That the government had a problem
Getting a 10-year development plan
Explained to the ordinary people
Then someone had the brilliant idea
To hire a calypsonian to do the job
After inquiring into the plan
And making sure he understood
How it would benefit all of the people
The musician made it into a calypso song
Which became a big hit on the islands
