Belt of Misery (Cinturón de miseria) ~ (Caracas, Venezuela)
Arriving in Caracas late at night
I saw a sea of little lights
Like Christmas time it was
The next day, in daylight
What a rude awakening I had
When I saw the shantytowns
Called “Cinturón de miseria
Belt of misery”
Surrounding the city
All those improvised shacks
High up the face of the mountain
Deprived from everything
From where the poor literally drop dead
