Arabische Lente (Arab Spring)
Geweldig vonden ze het
Ze spraken zelfs van
‘Arabische lente’
Met Twitter en Facebook
Hielpen ze mee
Aan het ten val brengen
Van oude dictaturen
En machtsstructuren
Maar toen de revolutie
Haar kinderen opvrat
Keerden zij zich af
Van de broederstrijd
En de hongerwinter die volgde
Arab Spring (Translation)
They loved it
They even spoke of
‘Arab spring’
With Twitter and Facebook
They collaborated
In the overthrowing
Of old dictatorships
And power structures
But when the revolution
Devoured her children
They turned away
From the fratricidal
And the hunger winter that followed
